Along the Iron Curtain: |
This exhibit tells the story of the American soldiers that were charged with guarding the border between East Germany and West Germany with uniforms, photographs and memorabilia. The history of the border is traced from the early crude barbed wire fences in the countryside to the later Berlin Wall. |

A presentation by James H. Randall, the Stead Family Professor of English Emeritus at Coe College, in the Herbert Hoover auditorium. Mr. Randall will focus his talk on the importance of Martin Luther King's words in our lives today. |

Former director, Dr. Timothy Walch, will be speaking on the Hoover Biography project. For sale will be the last book in this project, The Life and Times of Herbert Hoover: Keeper of the Torch, 1933-1964 by Gary Dean Best. Herbert Hoover impersonator, Carl Christensen will also perform. |

Lou Mehrer is a retired CIA officer who served in senior assignments in Washington and abroad. Most recently he participated in the UK film production, Spies Beneath Berlin, the history of the Berlin Tunnel Operation. He will present his talk in the Herbert Hoover auditorium. |

An exhibit on the experiences that Iowa and the other western states had during the Civil War. Learn how the soldiers lived by viewing artifacts, weapons, photographs and letters. This exhibit features one of three copies of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln and a copy of the Thirteenth Amendment on loan from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.. |

180 Go! Kite Performance Team performs precision aerial maneuvers and dynamic formations against a backdrop of popular music that engages and excites crowds both young and old. Bring your kite and join us for a day of fun. There will be kite vendors, music and games for children, also a special appearance by Benjamin Franklin. 180 Go! kite's will be performing at 1 Tidewater Drive in West Branch. The Eulenspiegel Puppets present Freedom Star; Gertie's Journey on the Underground Railroad at 1:30 followed by a Music Workshop featuring the history of American music with a focus on the Civil War era at 2:30. Both programs are for children. |
